Letter from the President

Hello KHEA members, I am so happy and honored that you have put your trust in me to help lead the organization through 2025. The Board and I are excited for this year with all the things we are working on and planning and we are very thankful for you, the individual member. Our focus for this year is continued growth in our membership and bringing you not only great programs and opportunities but providing a forum and resources for your day-to-day challenges.

Some of this new focus will be in our website. We have started up a forum section that any member can access and ask questions of the group. With some of the email issues we experienced last year, having a forum page for our members should help out quite a bit and hopefully get more eyes and feedback on questions. The link for this forum is below in the newsletter, please save this link and log in regularly to ask or answer questions. We are working on making this show up under the “members” tab and hopefully we will get this in place shortly. Along with the Forum page, we are working on putting together a “library” of sorts that is accessible by all members with helpful forms and documents that you can take and make your own. If members want to share forms they have created or found and use to track compliance or maintenance this will be a place to do so. I am also planning on posting as regularly as possible about things I consider to be of value to our members.

Since Fall Conference is the only one we are holding this year, we are working to make it a great experience for everyone attending. Our program committee will be meeting regularly and if you have a topic you would like covered, please reach out and we will try to get it on the schedule. If something new (opportunity, regulation, proposed rule) comes up in the interim we will try to post it in the forum and possibly schedule a webinar to cover it.

For the first time since COVID turned us all upside down, ASHE Region 8 will be holding a conference this year. Region 8 covers Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas and this year’s conference will be help in Omaha on October 22-24. As soon as we get more information on this exciting opportunity, we will forward it on to Membership.

KHEA Website Updates

There is now a forum on the website for members to ask/answer questions. You can find it at the link below. You do need to log-in as it is a member-only feature.

Spring Conference & Golf Update

KHEA will not be hosting a spring conference moving forward. There will be a benefit golf tournament held on June 18th, at the Salina Municipal Golf Course, to help support the KHEA Scholarship Program.

Educational Scholarships

KHEA supports those furthering their education. Two $500 scholarships for members and immediate family of members will be awarded in the Summer of 2025. These can be used by you to attend a training session or national conference, your child or a grandchild to attend a college. Financial need, scholastic status, and degree major are NOT factors in the selection process.   

The application is available online and needs to be returned by June 11, 2025.
